Code of Ethics

Thailand has been a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) since 1995. In 1988 the World Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA 41.17, endorsing the Ethical Criteria for Medicinal Drug Promotion and asking all countries and stakeholders to put these criteria into practice. Thailand has since worked to develop its own national ethical standards for drug promotion, and the National Drug System Development Strategy 2012–2016 included a strategy to promote ethical prescribing and end unethical drug promotion.

Biopharm Chemicals Co., Ltd. recognised the importance of this early on and began developing ethical criteria for sales promotion and marketing in hospitals in 2013. These criteria emphasise transparent transactions and professional knowledge-sharing with healthcare professionals, with accountability for information that is accurate, balanced and scientifically sound. Our main aim is for customers and all relevant employees to accept and follow these ethical criteria as the rules for every activity that promotes the company’s medicines.

Thailand has been a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) since 1995. In 1988, WHO adopted the World Health Assembly Resolution WHA 41.17 to endorse the ethical criteria for medicinal drug promotion and requested country members and relevant sectors to develop their own appropriate measures to ensure that medicinal drug promotion supports the aim of improving health care through the rational use of drugs? Thailand has therefore developed its own ethical criteria according to the Section of Ethical Promotion of Prescribers and End of Unethical Medicinal Drug Promotion section, in the National Drug System Development Strategy B.E. 2555-2559 (2012-2016).

Having recognized the importance of such issue, Biopharm has developed the Code of Conduct on Sales and Marketing Practice in hospitals since 2013 with an emphasis on transparent transactions, professional dissemination of knowledge, responsibility for accurate and balanced information or knowledge in accordance with scientific based for all employees and relevant customers to recognize and adhere to in their promotional practices related to the Company’s medicinal drugs. This ethical criterion has been complied with the Thai Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (TPMA) Code of Practice 2nd edition, 2018.
